Easter Surprise at the Roundhouse Cafe

The Big Easter Surprise

On Thursday 6th April, the Roundhouse Community Kitchen and Cafe hosted “The Big Easter Surprise” for the local community of Whitfield, Dundee.

Over 65 children and their parents/caregivers braved the Scottish weather and came along for an afternoon of free fun at the Roundhouse.

The children hunted for Easter eggs in the Roundhouse garden. They were delighted when they found a small shiny chocolate egg with which they could claim their prize. Each child excitedly received their prize, many received a large Easter Egg which had been donated by Tesco, Riverside in Dundee.

Furthermore, the Roundhouse staff and volunteers held various free stalls that the children could participate in such as: seed planting; bird feeder making; lucky dip; face painting; cake decorating; crafts and pin the tail on the dinosaur.

It was a wonderful afternoon inviting our neighbours to celebrate Easter at the Roundhouse Community Kitchen and Cafe!

What is the Roundhouse Community Kitchen and Cafe?

The Roundhouse Community Kitchen and Cafe is a sustainable food project counteracting food waste. The kitchen helps close the loop between food waste and food insecurity by sending freshly-cooked meals each week to Dundee Foodbank and three local food larders. The Café, in addition to providing typical café dishes, serves daily specials made from the surplus produce we divert from waste. The cafe is a warm, welcoming space to customers in the local area.
