Cook and Café Assistant

Signpost International SCIO is a Christian charity committed to tackling the root causes of poverty and inequality, both locally and internationally. Our work focuses on four themes of: food security; sustainable livelihoods; water, sanitation, and hygiene; and global citizenship.

In March 2021, we launched an exciting new venture called the Community Kitchen as part of our efforts to challenge food insecurity and food waste in Dundee. The Community Kitchen intercepts surplus, usable food (that would have been going to landfill) and transforms these into freshly prepared meals that are distributed to Dundee Foodbank and other larders across the city. The Roundhouse Café will launch later in the year and will comprise of a commercial café, where profits will be reinvested back into the Community Kitchen and the wider work of Signpost International.

We are now recruiting for a Cook and Café Assistant to support the delivery of the Community Kitchen and Community Café. The ideal candidate will have experience in the catering sector, aspects of café management, and project coordination. The person should be a highly motivated individual with strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Applications, comprising a CV and cover letter detailing your skills and experiences – with specific reference to the role requirements contained in the job description and person specification – should be received by 12pm Monday 10th May 2021.
