I’ll set the scene for you, nearly two hundred guests arrived in their blue outfits, ready to enjoy their afternoon in the ballroom of the Invercarse Hotel. Caitlin Finnan, blessed our ears with her beautiful cello playing as guests sipped their prosecco and explored the very large display of raffle and auction prizes to be won.
An anonymous local business covered the costs of the event, so all ticket purchases went towards the raised total. £3,000 and counting…
An incredibly talented jazz duo from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire performed as we tucked into sandwiches, creamy cakes and scones. Guests filled their raffle envelopes and crossed their fingers as they placed bids on the silent auction prizes, including holidays to Matlock Bath, wine hampers, Dundee Gin, handbags, pamper packages and jewellery.
The total donations continued to rise. £4,000 raised and counting…
Our CEO Jamie Morrison then stepped up to the stage. He spoke of how the money raised at the previous year’s Pink Project Tea Party contributed to a menstrual hygiene project and built toilets and a clean water facility in a school in Uganda. This led to a significant decrease in the children’s absence rates and an increase in their health and performance in class!
Water changes everything – education, health and time, especially for women and children. Jamie described how our water projects in schools dramatically change the circumstances and opportunities for children attending. Many people on the day joined us by giving £5 or more a month to make these projects possible.
Many people were touched by the impact of the projects. £5,000 raised and counting…
The rest of the afternoon we were treated by the very talented five-piece jazz band from Grove Academy. As the band impressed, the auction bids increased and the anticipation grew. Announcing the 40 plus raffle and auctions winners was great fun, and everyone left feeling very excited for next year’s tea party.
At the end of the event, we did a count of all the generous donations. We raised over £6,500!
A big thank you to everyone who came and supported the event. See you next year!
